Creating Compelling Messaging with ACEs Data

The California Department of Public Health, Injury and Violence Prevention Branch (CDPH/IVPB) and the California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention (CDSS/OCAP)’s, Essentials for Childhood (EfC) Initiative invites your participation in a webinar entitled, “Creating Compelling Messaging with ACEs Data” on Wednesday, January 20th from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM.

This webinar will feature presentations from Shaddai Martinez Cuestas, MPH, Strategic Communications Specialist at Berkeley Media Studies Group; ACEs Connection; and Lori Turk- Bicakci, Ph.D., Director of Kidsdata.org who will be sharing considerations for practical application of the “Adverse Childhood Experiences Data Report: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), 2011-2017: An Overview of Adverse Childhood Experiences in California” (see attachment titled “ACEs BRFSS Data Report”). This webinar will focus on how to create effective and compelling messages that support stakeholders in understanding ACEs in California; identifying risk and protective factors; and enhancing efforts to adopt and implement data-informed interventions that reduce and prevent adverse childhood experiences.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

• Utilize the data within the “Adverse Childhood Experiences Data Report: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), 2011-2017: An Overview of Adverse Childhood Experiences in California”;
• Align ACEs focused communication efforts with overall strategic goals;
• Describe the components of an effective and persuasive message; and
• Incorporate innovative use of evidence-based strategies to strengthen messages and stories.
