I would like to formally introduce myself as the new Trauma-Informed Care Wellness Coordinator here at the California Child Care Resource & Referral Network (CCCRRN). My name is Kristina Modeste and I am so grateful to be a resource to you all! As a yoga instructor and mindfulness advocate here in the Bay Area, I have had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of community support and collective healing. Together we will begin to explore what self-care can look like and ways to implement various wellness practices into your life, allowing you to access more pleasure and ease throughout your day.
Many of you know that self-care comes in many forms, yet the intention remains the same; to bring you home to yourself. I am here to remind you that prioritizing your emotional and mental wellness is not a luxury, but a right. We greatly value your empathy, compassion, and dedication to the work. Because of this, we want to make sure you are taking care of yourselves while providing services to resource families and child care providers.
Your body's sensations and your emotions are all a language communicating something to you about your relationship to your world. While we are in the midst of this collective trauma, it is important that you honor those sensations and listen to what your body is requiring. Let this new chapter usher in a time for you to speak your needs and get them met! Self-care, in whatever form you require it, is essential care. Here is a wonderful resource discussing self-care through the five senses.
Please stay tuned as I will continue to share resources on our Bridge Community with you all!
