Bay Area Training on Immigrant Health

HealthRight International's Human Rights Clinic (HRC) will be holding a training for new volunteers on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at UC Hastings College of Law (198 McAllister Street, San Francisco, CA 94102). This training, in particular, will have a special focus on evaluating minors (children and adolescents) as well as adult survivors.

The training will provide clinicians with a background on the experiences of immigrants fleeing abuse (including unaccompanied minors from Central America); an understanding of the types of immigration relief available; prepare clinicians to evaluate and document the effects of abuse; offer guidance on writing effective affidavits; and train clinicians to conduct needs assessments and refer clients to services in clients' communities.

Licensed physicians and mental health professionals holding clinical licenses are eligible. For this training in particular, applicants with child welfare experience and Spanish speakers are especially welcomed. For clinicians interested in applying, please visit the HRC website or contact  HRC.Training@healthright.org for more information. An RSVP is required to attend, so please email to confirm a spot. Feel free to share with others that might be interested!
