Help families get Monthly Cash Payment through expanded Child Tax Credit

Action Is Needed Now!

To help families cover their children’s basic needs, Congress expanded the Child Tax Credit for 2021 as part of the new America Rescue Plan. The IRS will be sending out monthly checks to families with children, starting in July. Families can receive up to $300 a month for every child ages 0-5 and $250 a month for every child ages 6-17 living in their household. Families do not need any earnings to qualify. Families should file taxes by May 17 so they can get the Child Tax Credit, stimulus checks, and all the money that they and their children are owed.

Join us for a webinar on Thursday, May 13, 2021,3:00 – 4:00 ET to learn about the benefit and steps we can take to ensure that this expanded benefit reaches the children who need it most, including children in Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and immigrant communities, and is made permanent.

Service providers and people working with families play an important role in letting families know they are eligible and connecting them to resources to help file taxes. The Center for the Study of Social Policy, the Children’s Defense Fund, and other members of the AutomaticBenefitforChildren(ABC) Coalition developed an outreach toolkit with resources to help you raise awareness of the Credit with families and guide them to services they may need.

Please share this information broadly with your networks and on social media using this flyer and messages below. Feel free to add your organization’s branding to the flyer as well as information about local resources for families seeking free tax-filing help both before and after the May 17 deadline. We will update this folder with additional outreach materials, including the flyers in Spanish and other languages, as they become available.
