PACEs in the Faith-Based Community

Hello everyone. I'm from Arkansas and the work with ACEs is just getting off the ground here. We have a workgroup with about 100 organizations involved and they are sharing the data about ACEs nationally and in AR--The last ACEs study showed Arkansas has the highest frequency of people experiencing multiple ACEs. I've seen how FBOs have taken responsibility and a leadership roles in other states and believe that can happen here too. We are a highly religious state and medical collages have already started initiatives to have FBOs help track medical data because they have proven a good means of reaching out-of-the-way rural communities. I'm a leader in a Faith-Based Nonprofit serving the homeless community in the Little Rock area. I see some ways we can get involved but could use your advise on how to involve the religious community at large.

As part of my master's project I get to make a recommendation to the Arkansas ACEs/Resiliency Workgroup. Could you help inform this recommendation by answering these 7 questions and adding anything else - links, materials, contacts, etc. - that might be helpful? One of the community members recommended I ask on this message board, so I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you so much! The work you do is so valuable and important!!

1. What is your interest in ACEs? (maybe it can help others see why they should be interested)

2. How are you involved? (again, this could serve as an example to others)

3. What challenges have you met, and how did you face them?

4. What was helpful to you?

5. Why would you say involvement from the faith community is important? (help us build our argument/plea)

6. Where/how would you recommend we begin?

7. Who should I contact?

Thanks again!!
