PACEs in the Faith-Based Community

How do you root out the lies that were planted in your head when you were traumatized as a child? Most of us come to believe things that are not true about ourselves in the midst of childhood trauma and then carry that belief unconsciously, perhaps for the rest of our lives. That belief is what creates triggers that sabotage us in our relationships, make us vulnerable to addictions and self-harm, and keep us from thriving in life. Learn about an amazing tool to replace those lies with the truth about who you really are, Thursday, April 3 at 7:30 pm on Beyond Abuse Radio.

Hi Linda,

Thank you for sharing about your DC4.org program and congratulations on the 10 anniversary of this wonderful program. I will do a little researching today on faith based trauma informed programs and how other faith based groups have been successful with getting other churches to learn about trauma and maybe even implementing a program of their own.Β

I'll be sure to share what I find.

Best,

I would love to join this conversation and hear the blog talk radio but I'll be traveling and don't know if I'll have access to a computer.Β

In my church I run DivorceCare, GriefShare and teach a single parent Bible study class. I also created and developed DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K.org) and I know how trauma affects these kids. DC4K has been out for 10 years this summer and we have seen changed lives because of it. We now have young adults who went through DC4K and they are having better outcomes than young adults in years past. We have no scientific research on their lives but many of them keep in touch with me.

DC4K has equipped over 3,000 churches worldwide but really with the divorce rate so high that number should be in the hundred thousand. Not sure how to get churches to step up and listen about trauma.

A friend of mine has created a program called "Chained No More" and she is having phenomenal success working with adults some of which are senior adults. I'll forward this info to her.Β
