Hello, everyone! As we look ahead to more sustainable efforts in our new normal, the VA TICNs eNote will adjust from weekly distribution to bi-weekly. If you have any feedback about the eNote or information you'd like shared, you can reply to the email containing the eNote or contact Charlotte Eure at ceure@grscan.com.

United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg, the backbone organization of the Southside TICN, created trauma-informed resources through their COVID-19 toolkit in handy, printable PDFs:

Parenting During COVID-19
Leading During COVID-19
Service Delivery During COVID-19
Self-Care During COVID-19
Bouncing Back From COVID-19

United Way also recently released their latest ALICE Report, which illuminates the incredible strain of the pandemic on low-income families who are financially vulnerable to one emergency. The report provides helpful statistics and context for the upcoming Special Session, highlighting the need to identify state and local supports.

ChildTrends has released a new publication: Considerations for Building Post-COVID Early Care and Education Systems that Serve Children with Disabilities. The Fact Sheet examines the interrelationship between disability, race, and ethnicity, and how this plays out across the country; discusses specific impacts of the pandemic on families with young children with disabilities; and offers considerations for states as ECE programs begin to reopen.

Children and families are facing challenges, hardship, and trauma that will impact them for an entire lifetime. The chain reaction from financial to parent distress is evidence that, for many children, the pandemic induces trauma. Read about Voices for Virginia Children's 2020 Special Session priorities and join them in asking our elected officials during the General Assembly's Special Session to #Care4Kids. Participate in the #Care4Kids Virtual Rally on Facebook today, Monday, August 17, 9:00am-5:00pm.
