Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities: Using the science of ACEs to create a just, healthy and resilient world

Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities (MARC) is a learning collaborative of 14 multi-sector community networks addressing childhood trauma through translation of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) science.

During the webinar, we will highlight the movement-building in Kansas City, where several entities have been looking through a trauma-informed care lens over the past few years.  With their MARC funding, the Trauma Matters KC network has been able to partner and leverage their work with the Chamber of Commerce’s Healthy KC initiative to focus on a true community trauma-informed movement.  The Resilient KC endeavor has begun to break down some of the silos that exist in Kansas City and bring together people of all backgrounds to discuss how the Kansas City regional community can work towards becoming trauma-informed.

Topics covered will include:

  • Overview of the science behind ACEs, trauma, and resilience
  • Structure and goals of the MARC initiative
  • Role of community networks in mobilizing action for policy- and systems-change
  • Overview of the trauma-informed movement in Kansas City
  • Early “Shared Learnings” from the MARC cohort

Webinar presenters include:  Leslie Lieberman, MSW, Director of Special Initiatives and Organizational Consulting at HFP; Clare Reidy, RN, MPH, MARC Program Manager at HFP; andJasmin Williams, Program Coordinator at the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City Foundation.

MARC is coordinated by The Health Federation of Philadelphia (HFP) with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The California Endowment. Learn more at marc.healthfederation.org.
