At the Franklin Institute Thursday, 9/22/16 6:00 - 8:00 PM (Eastern Time) - Doors open at 5:30 PM.

Too many of our children have witnessed or experienced trauma in their young lives. Whether it’s homelessness, physical abuse, community violence, or the death of a parent, many young people carry the scars of these realities into the classroom.

Join WURD on September 22 when we convene leading experts to discuss the impact of trauma on education, the developing brain, and our children’s potential. Featured speakers include: 

Arthur C. Evans, Jr., Ph.D. – Commissioner of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Service

Stanley Greene – President, PowerThinking Corp

Pam Grossman, Ph.D. – Dean of the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania

Otis Hackney – Chief Education Officer, City of Philadelphia and Former Principal, South Philadelphia High School

Hallam Hurt, M.D. – Medical Director of Special Babies Clinic and Attending Neonatologist at CHOP Newborn Care

Rahim Islam – President and CEO of Universal Companies

Reggie Jones – Director of Counseling, Bryn Mawr College

Michael O’Bryan – Program Manager, Youth Arts Education at Village of Arts and Humanities

Nick Taliaferro – Moderator, and host of The Nick Taliaferro Show on WURD
