Passing the Baton

Hello, Everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I’ve decided to step away from my volunteer position as co-manager of the Practicing Resilience for Self-Care & Healing community. In the nearly two and a half years since I’ve held this post, I’ve learned so much and gotten to know (virtually) so many great folks who’ve contributed their wisdom, experience, compassion, and knowledge. I am in awe of you all, your willingness to share and give of yourselves, your strength and courage in your own healing, and your dedication in helping others to heal. Thank you all for making this growing community the thoughtful, lively, and hopeful place that it is. Gratitude to @Morgan Vien and @Christine Cissy White for manifesting your vision of this community into reality and for inviting me to be a part of it. This community fills a niche that was previously absent on ACEs Connection and that is, judging from the membership numbers that grow almost daily, much wanted and needed.

I may be passing the baton here, but I’m not leaving either this community or ACEs Connection. In fact, as of this month, I’m managing the new Monroe County (Indiana) ACEs Connection community. Everyone is welcome to join us there as we work to eradicate ACEs, build resilience, and promote healing in Monroe County, Indiana and beyond.

Hope to see you there AND here.

Warmly,

Laura

Laura, I am very late in checking my notifications and am just seeing this now. You have done so much for this community - connecting with members, sharing stories, and shaping a safe and healing space. Your courage, kindness, insightfulness, and compassion radiate through the words you post. And I, to this day, jump at the chance to refer people to PACEs Connection and to this nurturing community. I am incredibly lucky to have crossed paths with you and to work together for some of those years. You are a beautiful writer and a fantastic community manager, in addition to the many other hats you wear. And now we know you're also an excellent photographer! Wishing you the very best as you step into your next chapters, and I'm excited for developments in Monroe County, IN. Thank you for everything that you do, Laura.

Morgan, thank you for your kind words. It was an honor and a pleasure to co-manage this community for so long. I threw my heart into it and that paid me back much more than I gave! I appreciate that even though as I recall this community was YOUR brainchild, you graciously welcomed me as a co-manager when @Christine Cissy White invited me to become more involved on the site. Thanks to you both for the opportunity to contribute my survivor experience to the PACEs movement.

Funny that you should mention the Monroe County, IN community -- I am resigning from that as well because my husband and I are moving back to our hometown, which is well outside of Monroe County. Once we get settled in I am hoping to make some headway in becoming involved in whatever PACEs efforts are happening there.

Take care, Morgan, and I hope to see you around here!
