Join us for a March 14 Webinar “Strategic Advocacy: Winning Policy Change without Crossing the Lobbying Line”

Please join ACEs Connection and the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP) for a free webinar to learn how to drive public-policy change without violating the restrictions on non-profit organizations or the requirements of funders. It will beheld on Thursday, March 14 (9:00-10:30 am PT/noon-1:30 pm ET).

The featured speaker of the webinar, “Strategic Advocacy: Winning Policy Change without Crossing the Lobbying Line,” is attorney Allen Mattison, an expert at helping non-profits understand the legal distinctions between lobbying and non-lobbying activities.  He will address how to structure your campaigns strategically to get the biggest bang for your bucks.

Other speakers will include Kelly Hardy with Children Now and Jeff Hild with Building Community Resilience at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University.  The session is co-moderated by Elizabeth Prewitt, ACEs Connection’s Policy Analyst and Andrea Blanch, CTIPP co-chair and consultant on trauma-informed approaches and systems change.

You will learn:

  • How to drive public-policy change without violating the restrictions on your non-profit organization (focus on IRS requirements) or the requirements of your funders
  • How lobbying is defined (i.e., the legal distinctions between lobbying and non-lobbying activities)
  • How to plan your campaigns strategically to get the biggest bang for your bucks
  • Apply theory to real-world situations

The webinar is the third in a series on state-to-state sharing of best practices. The first webinar was on Alaska’s new statute directing state policy to incorporate principles of brain development. The second webinar featured the Self-Healing Communities Model (SHCM) described by Interface co-founder Laura Porter.
