Overview: This presentation will introduce provocative ideas about the link between trauma, nutrition, obesity prevention and protective factors.  Participants will be invited to explore their own relationship with food and consider the implications of viewing obesity and chronic disease prevention through the lens of trauma and resilience. Finally, a brief overview of trauma-informed principles will give a starting point for next steps.

  • Physician Engagement and Training Focused on Breastfeeding Project Webinar – Presented by Ngozi Onyema-Melton and Kera Beskin, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

Overview: The CDC Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity and the United States Breastfeeding Committee co-host this series of Bi-Monthly State Breastfeeding Coalitions Webinars, held every two months (in even numbered months) on the second Tuesday of the month from 2-3 p.m. ET. They bring together state/territorial/tribal breastfeeding coalitions to share best practices and news and to network and collaborate on issues of national significance. Join on this webinar to learn more about the American Academy of Pediatrics, the AAP section on breastfeeding, and the CDC cooperative agreement focused on engaging and training physicians on the topic of breastfeeding.   

 

  • COI All-Partner Convening: Design Thinking for Health Workshop hosted by COI and facilitated by UCSD Design Lab

 

Date: Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Time: *12pm-4:30pm (lunch provided)

Location: Price Charities Building – Suite 640 (4305 University Avenue, San Diego, CA 92105)

Workshop Goals:

  • Describe the fundamentals of human-centered design as applied to public health, particularly childhood obesity
  • Describe the fundamentals of community-driven design, and its similarities and differences to other approaches
  • Learn introductory skills in rapid ideation and prototyping
  • Gain introductory skills in the foundational importance of relationships and the need to consciously advance issues of equity, within the context of community-driven design
