Introductions:  New Members and 1st time visitors were welcomed.  Introductions included “why you’re here”

Trauma Informed - Resilience Building Journey

  • Center for Community Solutions – Staff members Allison Johnson (Clinical Services Manager) and Liat Wexler (Training Specialist) presented on their services and trauma informed journey.
  • CCS has been working in the area of partner abuse/sexual assault since 1969 and started at SDSU.
  • Services focus on Resilience, Trauma Informed, and Empowerment. All employees receive a 60 hour crisis intervention course, including administrative staff and volunteers.  CCS is using a grant from Peace Over Violence in LA to support training in core competency areas for therapists/service providers.  Preliminary results include a 14% increase in feelings of wellness after 8 sessions.  See attached PowerPoint for more specifics.
  • Guide Team members were led in a guided imagery exercise used with clients to assist in calming the nervous system.

Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities (MARC) Project Updates  MARC Project Manager, Cindy Davidson & Audrey Hokoda

  • Cindy provided a brief overview of the MARC grant and updates re: the grant ending. Audrey is our local evaluator and our goal as the grant comes to an end is to capture our outcomes and accomplishments.  We will be using Brag Sheets and an email questionnaire to gather this data.
  • MARC has a national evaluator, Westat, to evaluate all MARC grantees. Westat is using a survey to do this.  Members should have received this email.  Please complete it if you haven’t done so.  Westat will also be visiting us to do further evaluation.
  • Audrey shared some Brag sheet highlights, specifically highlighting the synergistic influence of the Guide Team and our effect on policy.
