NMAI Indigenous People’s Day Teach-In Save the Date and Survey [teachingforchange.org]

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and Teaching for Change will host the annual Indigenous People’s Day Teach-In online on Saturday, September 12, 2020. The focus this year is environmental justice, in particular food and climate.

The day will include:

Keynote speaker Winona LaDuke, internationally renowned author, and activist, working on issues of sustainable development, renewable energy, and food systems.

Breakout sessions with resources and strategies for your classroom (in preparation for online and/or in-person instruction). The list of potential workshops is included in the survey.

Before we finalize plans for the teach-in, we would like your input so that we can best meet your needs.

Please take a few minutes to respond to this short survey. The most important question is about the workshops you are interested in. Those are the ones we’ll select to offer.

We’ll use your responses to shape the day and get back to you with the formal announcement so that you can register and spread the word. Meanwhile, mark September 12 on your calendar.

CEU’s will be available by request. Note that there will be a fee of $15 for the teach-in. This helps the non-profit organization Teaching for Change cover the costs of coordination and follow-up.
