"Volunteers-4-Youth" is pleased to announce the showing of two important films that explore factors that affect the wellbeing of young people.

These films are free of charge and open to all people who work with and are concerned about the future of our youth.

Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope

Filmmaker James Redford directed and produced this important documentary on Adverse Childhood Experiences - ACEs - and their associated stresses.  High doses of stress during childhood get into our bodies, change our brains, and lead to lifelong health and social problems - everything from domestic violence and substance abuse to heart disease and cancer. 

The film will be followed by a live Q&A session with James Redford.

Paper Tigers: One High School's Unlikely Success Story

Paper Tigers, directed and produced by Bay Area filmmaker Jamie Redford, follows a year in the life of an alternative high school that has radically changed its approach to disciplining its students, becoming a promising model for how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disease that affect families.
