Judge Nunley is a staunch advocate for children, especially the most vulnerable. He brings rich personal experience to his judicial role; he grew up in the Hunter's Point neighborhood of San Francisco with a single mother, ultimately rising to one of the highest positions in American lawyer can occupy, after being a Prosecutor in both Oakland and Sacramento.

Judge Nunley will share his observations on the criminal justice system, how the accused are often victims themselves and how it relates to early adversity and trauma. 

 

Join attorneys, prosecutors, judges and others interested in at-risk youth:

  • Learn about the prevalence of child trauma among youth and adult offenders: "Hurt people hurt people."
  • Participate in a conversation about what role childhood adversity and trauma should play in decisions about incarceration and treatment, especially of juveniles.
  • Hear about a promising community-level initiative to address trauma in Sonoma County.
