Course Overview
A full day of conversation about the complex layers of cyclical family and community violence and how it affects our children in all stages of life. Open to professionals who work in child abuse intervention and treatment including law enforcement, social workers, medical examiners, prosecutors, advocates, forensic interviewers, therapists, and others.
This training will help participants:
- Design effective interventions to use in their work with child victims of violence and abuse.
- Identify ways in which they can collaborate across disciplines to improve outcomes for children and families.
- Develop trauma-informed practices for use in their work with clients.

Presenters:
Erin Runnion is the Founding Director of The Joyful Child Foundation in Newport Beach, Ca., and the mother of Samantha Runnion. She is committed to sharing information and tools that empower children and adult to unite communities to stop crimes against children.
David D. Love, MFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. and founder and Executive Director of Valley Community Counseling Services in San Joaquin County, which conducted one of the largest research projects on the treatment of youthful sex offenders. He has worked with sexually reactive children and juvenile sex offenders for over 20 years.
Kanwarpal Dhaliwal, MPH holds a Masters in Public Health and is an instructor at San Francisco State University. She is the Associate Director and co-founder at the RYSE Center in Richmond, Ca. Her work spans the fields of community organizing, youth development and leadership, intergroup relations, supportive housing, harm reduction, immigrant rights, and LGBTQQ organizing and advocacy.

All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Course meets qualifications for 3 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for MFTs/ LCSWs (Provider #128510) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Participants may apply for CEUs at the event for a fee of $30. Certificates for CEUs will be mailed to participants within two weeks following the event.
