The Center for the Study of Social Policy...

Karen Clemmer ·
The Center for the Study of Social Policy website is overflowing with resources for building resilient communities. From their Strengthening Families initiative, I have attach a set of "action sheets" that are geared to help providers improve family resilience, and a powerpoint presentation on protective factors. But I recommend spending time on the website- there are so many resources there for strategizing how to improve outcomes for youth and their families. There are multiple...

Re: The Center for the Study of Social Policy...

Local Sonoma County folks are hungry for resources to implement the "Strengthening Families" framework. Upstream Investments, First Five and Public Health's Maternal Child Adolescent Health teams offered recent training on Strengthening Families. All events immediately "sold out." How terrific that Karen shares a resource for how we can continue to learn more via this great website!

Sebastopol Peace Bag concept has spread to Southern California

Elizabeth Beaty-Smith ·
Local Sebastopol non-profit Peacetown is spreading joy and community engagement through the Family Village's project called Peace Bags. Every week for 13 weeks a different local organization "sponsors" a week by providing printed resources and an activity that supports community connection, family engagement, and some fun. The bags are distributed for FREE in collaboration with a local toy store. I happen to come across a conversation on one of the posts I made regarding Peace Bags. The post...

SCAC takes part with many organizations to provide Positive Childhood Experiences

Elizabeth Beaty-Smith ·
Sonoma County [California] ACES Connection was one of 30 organizations to come together and take part in Sebastopol's Peacetown Family Village to provide children and families opportunities to make positive social connections, promote awareness/outreach, and share resources and programming. This led to maximizing resources, building community, and exposing children to Positive Childhood Experiences. Enjoy the video and please feel free to share:

Positive Experiences through Sebastopol's Peacetown Family Village

Elizabeth Beaty-Smith ·
As the season begins to wind down, I love to reflect on the impact made during the Peacetown Summer Concert Series. As a board member, Founder of the Peacetown Family Village, and took on a new role this year as Stage Manager for a youth led stage, it was a HUGE undertaking with more value than any price tag (thankfully because I do this uncompensated). Moving from a local park with one stage to The Barlow with 13 different music venues every Wednesday for 14 weeks during the summer. I take...
