In my opinion, when any court in America identifies the ACE entitled "Divorce/Separation from a Biological Parent" , they should swiftly and clearly intervene to help that person protect their known legal rights or help them establish court ordered custody/parenting time rights. Our agency(NET)is using the ACES as part of our Bio-psychosocial assessment which is completed when they are seen for an Intake for OP services. Scores of 3 or more will have a prompt in our electronic record system to put a treatment goal on the plan to address some of the identified trauma or to do a follow up screening with a different tool. Our hope is this will assist all clinicians in being more sensitive to these issues as part of all phases of our treatment process.

Hi Jane, Vermont House Bill 762 (2013 session), called for ACE screening by all Vermont Health Care providers-and while it didn't pass in its entirety, One of our ACEs Connection members began working on how they would select and word the questions.... The World Health Organization adopted the ACE screening tool, in its 2013 assessment of the world's healthiest children (Netherlands was # 1, many if not all of Scandinavia followed,...U.S. was 25th, Canada 26th,-if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Sylvia, This is a great post. I love that there are schools (and health centers) helping students learn about ACEs and also gaining meaningful data for their organization. We screen our students too - high school program. We call our screening tool, ACEs Plus. It asks the 10 ACEs questions, and then another 15 questions that we have identified as risk factors for our students. We use the 10 questions from the original ACE questionnaire which is completed by clients when they register at the initial visit. Usually the first encounter is with one of our 2 fellows and a faculty member after. One or tbe other or both go over the questions one by one with the client. Interesting is that we find patients often self report lower scores than when reviewed with the staff. Prior to the fellowship I did the same thing and just did it myself.
