Thank you for your participation in CRI’s October is Resilience Month!

Thank you to everyone who participated in CRI’s October is Resilience Month! From film screenings to a Dia de los Muertos celebration, from yard signs to new products, we accomplished a lot this past month!

CRI kicked off the month with two proclamations- from the City of Walla Walla and the county- to declare our effort to mitigate ACEs via community resilience building.

We hosted a resilience treasure hunt with our friend Tod Sullivan, themed according to his home country- England. He helped us answer questions about resilience, as well as about London. Stay tuned for a blog post on Tod’s three week visit with CRI!

CRI also screened two films in the community:

DNA is Not Destiny- How the Outside Gets Under the Skin

Wounded Places- Confronting Childhood PTSD

We hosted an Art Extravaganza where children spent play time with their parents, forming positive self-images, and we taught kids about emotions during our Inside Out event.

All in all, we had over 150 yard signs and banners throughout the community, along with new products and video promotions of our community partners. Teri hosted two Exchange Club events, discussing the intersection of our social environment and day to day activities. We played with resilience cards, recognizing resilience methods in our own families, talking about what we’d like more of.

Finally, we ended the month with a Dia de Los Muertos Celebration at the farmer’s market, teaching children about emotional regulation with a breathing buddy exercise.

Ultimately, our activities gave way to new ideas, new relationships, and even a potential Resilience course in development for Walla Walla Community College. Thank you to everyone who attended an event, participated in its creation, or supported CRI this past month!
