I'd encourage you to look at the Mind Matters program. Its content can be used in groups or one on one settings with adolescents. One lesson, Compassion for the Hijacked Brain, focuses on the biology of trauma. Plus the program includes self-soothing skills to help people self-regulate as they start their healing journey through evidence based activities to build resilience.
