Reply to "psychedelics"

In a text titled: "L.S.D., Man, and Society:..." (Wesleyan University Press-early 1970's), I recall some mention of its use during "Identity Crisis" (late adolescence/early adulthood). ["PTSD' wasn't conceptualized until ?late 1970's]

After President Nixon appointed [psychologist] Helen Nowlis to the National Action Committee on Drug... she mentioned [during a presentation at the Univ. of Rochester], that she hadn't felt confident critiquing LSD without having first tried it herself--perhaps she published some findings.

It was reported that LSD causes the ends of the color cones on one's Retinas to dilate, and it's use in darkened environments may facilitate 'hallucination' more easily than well-lighted environments...

Sandoz Pharmaceuticals [of Switzerland] did make pharmaceutical LSD-25 in 80 microgram tablets, which were used here in the United States during the mid- to late-  1960's... (even the [U.S.] National Institutes of Health [NIMH] may have been involved in some research--as NIH had had a supply of Sandoz LSD)...
