Hello, my name is Amy Rohn and I am working towards my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I would very much like to work on a project related to ACES and am looking for a mentor/preceptor in the Grand Rapids area. This person must be a nurse with a master's degree or higher. Please let me know if you would be willing/interested in helping me, or if you may know of someone I can contact.

thank you very much,

Amy

Hi Amy I am just wondering if you would consider someone on the Kent County Human Trafficking task force. They have a healthcare committee with professionals from different Health disciplines. I'm a member of the Michigan human trafficking Health Advisory Board and we are trying to push the awareness of the aces. I could send an email to some board members with your request unless you were looking only for the Grand Rapids area. Are you familiar with the Michigan Aces initiative?

Warmly Ruth Rondon

Hello Amy -

I am so glad you joined ACEs Connection! Adrienne Gilbert told me about your work; there was someone I was reaching out to to find out more about a good connection for you in MI, but it looks as though you are well connected already!

Ruth Rondon's work looks to be be groundbreaking, accessible, amazing.

Keep us posted!

Hi Carey, thank you so much for helping out. Networking and collaborating is what it's all about. I sent out Amy's request to several of my contacts and have not heard back. Maybe I won't hear back. I hope some will reach out to her directly. I think the more people who know of Amy's request, the better so please, lets not bank on my connections alone. They may not pan out. Thank you so much. Onward we go to spread the good word about the ACEs!  Thanks again. Warmly, Ruth Rondon

Amy Rohn, In 2000, an Epidemiologist presented to [then Dartmouth, now] Geisel Medical School "Grand Rounds", noting: "52% of Detroit Metropolitan Area Schoolchildren met the DSM-IV criteria for PTSD." I don't recall his name, nor other particulars-such as whether his 'territory' includes Grand Rapids, or not, but Geisel Medical School may have a list of its (then Dartmouth) Medical School's 2000 Grand Rounds presenters... Welcome aboard ACEsConnection, and good luck with your Doctoral program.

Also - It would be good for you to join the Michigan ACEs Initiative. Just go to the "Communities" tab on the bar across the top of the page, visit communities and search for Michigan ACEs Initiative. Once you join, you will see the names of other members and can reach out to people individually.

I am going to make another run at the person who told me that Michigan is an active, amazing community, and see if he has any recommendations. It may be that your request gets more notice, too, when people are back from summer break.
