I am working on a series of stories about youth suicide prevention for The Durango Herald and KDUR, a public radio station because like many other communities southwest Colorado has seen a sharp rise in suicides among those 10 to 24.

I was hoping that someone in the ACEs Connection community might know of a suicide prevention effort that is built around trauma informed care or employs trauma informed care as one of its core tenants. I am also interested in community efforts that set out to build resilience and ended up reducing suicide deaths.

I would like to get in touch with an organizer of a trauma-informed suicide prevention effort to feature in a story.

I would appreciate any recommendations.

Thank you for your interest & efforts to bring additional attention to youth suicide prevention.

Below is a link to an article commissioned by RWJ that highlights a community in Washington state that saw a decrease in youth suicide & suicide attempts of 98%.  I have successfully implemented this model in WA & continue to do so in other areas with Dr. Anda & Laura Porter.
