Greetings

Background...skip to the end if you want to answer the direct question.. I am a former school psychologist (8 years), experiencdd mental health therapist.

I spent the last  4 years working with schools across the west coast as anproject coordinator and educational consultant. Designing, developing and implementing a multi year trauma informed school initiative in various states compromised of on site coaching, training and system review over a multi year period with successes in improving moral and changes in individuals,.teams and systems to support TIC.

Last June, I made the decision to leave the position because of the excessive travel, philosophical differences in the design, content and delivery of services and a lack of ability to serve our local community to pursue my dream of becoming self employed and  offer a less restrigice array of services/training to a local

what barriers prevent people from trying "just another waste of time training session that will disappear in 2 years-" "-i have kids at home and wont stay after school unless I am paid to do so" "I already practice truama informed teaching" "it doesn't matter what I do because my principal doesn't follow through anyway" " the roblem is really the parents" etc...

In order to be responsive to current needs in my area I am wondering if anyone has ideas on how to get the best feedback from area educators on what is really impacting their ability to provide meaningful academic instruction? Is it behavior support? Skills development? Lack of quality SEL assessment and instructional programs? Revoling door of "the next big thing" (PBIS, responsive classroom, academic rigor etc?) Unresponsive leaders and systems? Increased number of severally impacted kids with behavioral issues that overwhelm the individual and system?

What are the barriers preventing people from trying "just another waste of time training session that will disappear in 2 years-" "i have kids at home and wont stay after school unless I am paid to do so" "I already practice truama informed teaching" "it doesn't matter what I do because my principal doesn't follow through anyway"

What would incentive people to give 5-10 mins. of feedback?

Short list:A short online survey link with a lottery for gift cards.Go to schools and ask for a pool of volunteers.Bring them lunch like insurance people do nd sit in the staff room.Ask fellow truama informed activists

What would incetivse you or your team to give up 10 minutes to share your workplace experience? Know of any relatively inexpensive websites or methods in getting feedback from people?

Any advice appreciated!

JM

Perhaps the answer is in your next to last question:  ask each team to share their  experience regarding their setting and how administration, teachers, support staff, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and security detail, respond to students and to peers.  I am convinced that training, without the context having  been provided by those who work within the specific school/organization, becomes no more than a pedantic exercise
