Hello Everyone,

My name is Sarah Diamond and I am the Lead Prevention & Community Specialist at Center for Community Solutions (CCS), a local organization that provides intervention and prevention services for intimate partner violence and sexual assault.

CCS runs a community mobilization project out of City Heights. This project aims to shift social norms that allow for sexual and relationship violence to happen. It is comprised of an adult organizing team (AOT), a youth leadership team (YLT), and an intergenerational team where both the AOT and YLT come together. What’s really great about this program is it is completely community-led! Both teams get to tell us what’s important to them and engage their community members in the process.

Over the last year we were able to accomplish some pretty cool things with our YLT. Our YLT spent the year getting to know their community through surveying, and hosted a teen dating violence awareness month event at Hoover High School. In addition, one of our youth was invited to speak at the state capitol about teen dating violence!

I’m reaching out because we are currently recruiting and I am wondering if any of you know any youth in the City Heights area who would be a good fit for this type of program. We are looking for youth ages 13-24 who either live, go to school, or consider City Heights to be their community.

I've attached our flyer, please share this far and wide with your contacts!
