Good morning colleagues,

Recently we have gotten requests from a number of organizations seeking training and consultation on integrating screening for ACEs into their routine intake and assessment processes.  These requests have come from diverse types of organizations - health centers, early childhood centers, and home visiting programs.   Is anyone aware of a directory that compiles information about where ACEs screening is already being done and includes individuals willing to help others begin to implement this practice?  If no such director exists do people feel this would be a useful tool?

Thanks,

Leslie

I think a directory would be great. Leslie you are doing so much wonderful work. We could all put our input here. I don't have anything specific but as an individual, I screen for aces in pediatric patients. Especially if schools want them on ADHD meds because often they don't have ADHD but trauma. If they all had ADHD here and we just put the kids on meds (the quicker and better way to make money sorry for the reality check than around 40 percent of our rural kids would be on stimulant meds and 20 percent would be on antipsychotics - what a way to fight obesity). You probably remember from the article with Burke Harris that she was surprised that there was more trauma in the Northern and Rural parts of California. I have always worked and was born and grew up in Rural and have seen the tremendous trauma. Sometimes I just wish I could work with middle class average Americans so I didn't have to experience (or turn a blind eye to) all the trauma around me.   I think we need directories for ACEs screening and teaching for different curricula /disciplines -- teachers, doctors, lawyers, family court judges, juvenile justice, child welfare, foster parents etc, etc.... So if we can get it aligned and arranged I think ACEs is the best place for it all to be in one place. That is my thought.... Thanks
