Hello Again - while TF-CBT has taken Philadelphia by storm, I wonder what other states and cities are utilizing for treatment of very young traumatized children and traumatized/attachment-disregulated children of all ages.  Are clinicians finding that TF-CBT truly works for EVERYONE?  Or, like I have, are some discovering that very young children (3 to 7/8) and attachment-disrupted children do not behave predictably with this model?  What of PCIT/Theraplay/Attachment-Based Family Therapy/ARC/SMART models?  Or even NMT?  Replies welcomed...Thanks much.

I find TF CBt very effective for single trauma incidents but for children with attachment and developmental traumas I find I need to use multiple  approaches  depending on the age of the client and the type of symptoms exhibited.  I like to incorporate mindfulness and emotion regulations practices.  With young children, I almost always include the primary caregiver(s).  I'm am influenced by Dan Hughes work on attachment.

Agreed.  I learned early on that children with chronic trauma and attachment challenges could not tolerate much of TFCBT - even naming how they might be feeling on a given day.  Where is the research that reflects this, however?
