We are looking into the concept of how helicopter noise, specifically around police activity, may trigger or otherwise impact children.  Community members brought this up after some of the activity around the time of protests last month.  I have not found much in the literature on this.  Does anyone have any leads?

A slightly lateral idea since it's not police activity, but perhaps disaster recovery research might be a lead for you? Down here in Australia, I live in the Blue Mountains, a fire-affected community still coming to grips with the devastation we experienced with massive bushfires 12 months ago. The sound of helicopters continues to be a trigger for many children and adults alike. This article refers to a study talking about ongoing impacts including helicopter noise.

Of course, somatic trauma therapy research will also give you lots about the general mechanisms of sound / trauma response interplay too. Good luck!
cheers
