Do 50% of Americans know we have some form of Attachment Disorder?  That's the controversial concept of my book "Don't Try This at Home" - the Silent Epidemic of Attachment Disorder" on AttachmentDisorderHealing.com and

Dr. Mary Main showed in 1994 that 45% of the population is "in-securely attached."  Twenty years later with the stress of internet, texts, cell phones, etc., others like neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges say it's  50% or more of us, which included me,  who have some degree of Attachment Disorder.

I'm working with FEMHC.org on this. They're working with the Vice President's office in Washington to revamp our broken mental health care system (see their home page).  We want to remove the stigma from having the pain of Attachment Disorder, by alerting Americans to how widespread it is, and that the distress we feel is real and lawful.

Blog #4 is up for my new book, “Don't Try This at Home: the Silent Epidemic of Attachment Disorder," on the Foundation for Excellence in Mental Health Care site (www.FEMHC.org):

I'd love your comments on the blog. The "Email" line is not made public or sold. Leave a pen name on the "Name" line if need be; it's all that shows.  I want to know how you feel!  Being really see and heard by others for what we really feel, is a major way we heal from attachment disorder.

Hi Kathy,

I'm glad to hear FEMHC is working w/ D.C. to revamp our broken mental health care system. The one thing I don't think many realize is how the very people who are there to "help" consumers are actually retraumatizing them and not providing much-needed services. It's so pervasive, it's really criminal. MH orgs/agencies need to come up w/ a way of screening the emotional intelligence of its professionals.

Hi Chris

Thank you so much and I was thrilled to have my blog on FEMHC.org in your Best Blog Posts

on ACEsConnection.com !  I want to deepen our association, I love your website. Three tech questions for you please:

  1. Is there a Southern California group on here (like Jane's Northern Cal group)?  If yes how do I find them?  If no, should I start one and how do I do that?  I'm in zip 92629, half way between LA and San Diego.

  2.  Can we get my blog onto your website, too?

  3.  Does ACEsConnection have "follow me" tags like Facebook and Twitter do, so non-members can follow me by "just looking only" on ACEsConnection.com ?  We've all got lots of friends and family in complete denial, don't think they've got childhood issues.  The way to get them interested in ACE issues and to join, is to educate them...  If they could look but not talk, that would educate them while protecting our members' confidentiality...  I'm sure you've thought this over already so just fill me in?

   Warm regards, Kathy
