Since many localities are starting their own ACES groups, I was wondering if any local Maryland ACEs participants would like to start up a group?  I am willing to participate and/or coordinate, if there's enough interest.  My feeling is that if we join forces, we can do more good in our communities than we ever could individually.

Additionally, I will be attending the October 3-4 Trauma Informed Care training in Baltimore.  If any of you will be there, we could connect in person and talk about goals, ideas.

My focus is on Child Sexual Abuse prevention in schools and youth-serving organizations, but I am also involved in an organization formed to open a CSA Survivor's Clinic in Montgomery County, MD!

Let me know if you are interested or want to connect.

Yes Brenda-very much interested in getting a group going here in Maryland. I'm just outside of Dc in Silver Spring.

Maybe we could get an ACEs response think-tank together to assess the situation in MD. I've been doing some collaborative research with Heather Larkin, Professor at U Albany (ACEs Response Network and Post Trauma Wellness). She was hoping we would be able to get one going in this area. She is a member on this site as well. Might want to consider doing some teleseminars or webinars with a white board. Somebody in our group might be able to work out the logistics.

Dennis,

That's an excellent idea if we have that resource in our group!  I'm happy to hear that I'm NOT the only ACEs member who has been hoping for a group in Maryland...to me our State is far behind the learning curve when it comes to Trauma Informed Care Practices, and general understanding of what ACEs is all about and how to weave that into legislation, policy, and every day life.
