I am looking for a legitimate survey to assess where we are as an agency with implementing trauma informed care strategies.  Any thoughts?  I am also looking for how other child welfare/mental health agencies are using data from ACE given to consumers?

I'll put this in the next newsletter, Julius, which will come out next week.

Also, if you haven't looked into the Sanctuary or Risking Connection programs, they might be useful in evaluating where you are as an agency.

Here's a link to a story about what's happening in social service agencies in Albany, NY. Since the story's more than a year old, Heather Larkin, who's a member of ACEsConnection, will be able to update you. A couple of the agencies mentioned had planned on giving the ACEs info to their clients.

Parent Trust for Children in Seattle, WA, was also giving ACEs info to their clients. Jack Edgerton is the contact there.

Hi.  I'm sure you are aware that there are a number of agency self-assessment protocols out there.  The Center for  Family Homelessness has an excellent one and Community Connections also has an extensive protocol that can be adapted to a wide range of agencies as well as a workbook for strategic planning.  The National Council on Behavior Health has developed both an assessment and planning process and a performance monitoring tool, but I think it is primarily available through their Learning Collaborative program.  You might check with them about possibly participating.  We've been working here in Oregon on identifying or developing Benchmarks that agencies could use to assess their progress and that could serve as an accountability tool as well.  I would be happy to share when we're further along, but it's not yet quite at the Beta testing point yet.  Best of luck.  Please post what you find!

Hi-

There are serveral measures regarding trauma-informed care that range from quick and easy to long and detailed.  The resources with links are below.  I'm not quite sure i understand the second half of your request.  Using ACE data as far as research or how they are using ACE's for screening clients?  I have some resources for that question as well once given some clarity.  I hope these help-

  1. The Trauma-Informed Organizational Toolkit for Homeless Services: http://www.familyhomelessness.org/media/90.pdf, includes a Trauma-Informed Organizational Self-Assessment
  2. The National Center for Trauma-Informed Care: http://www.samhsa.gov/nctic/default.asp

     3. The National Council of Behavioral Healthcare: http://www.thenationalcouncil.org/areas-of-expertise/trauma-informed-behavioral-healthcare/

4. The organizational readiness and capacity assessment from the NCTSN Leaning Collaborative Toolkit:http://www.nctsn.org/sites/default/files/assets/pdfs/lc_toolkit/3_9_OrganizationalReadinessAssessment.pdf
