For each year's Foster Care Awareness Month, we pick a theme or topic to bring awareness to and to discuss among students within UC Davis Guardian Scholars Program. This year the title is "The Diary of the Independent, Resilient Foster Youth".  We are aiming to highlight how former foster youth build skills and gain sense of independence and resiliency while also feeling isolated and alone or feeling the pressure to "do it all" by themselves.  We are looking for a speaker that can address this to educate and bring awareness to campus folks (i.e. staff, faculty) about this topic.  We are also looking to have a student panel to address and share their related experiences as well.  If you have a recommendation o you are interested in being a featured speaker, please contact me: Valeri Garcia, vqgarcia@ucdavisedu

Valerie,

Good Morning!

There is an AWESOME group of people that may be able to help you and I highly recommend them.  They are the founders of CONNECT OUR KIDS and their program is absolutely unbelievable.

I would be happy to share with your group and lead a workshop/training as I have been a foster parent for many years and have done many trainings on this subject, as well as many others.

Please reach out to me at gawilli1@texaschildrens.org or on my cellphone at 832-396-6525.

Blessings!
