Dear PACEs community,

I am looking to find information for

1. EBP trauma informed frameworks for educators.

2. Ways to become a certified trainer myself

3. Any information that you think would be helpful for becoming a Trauma-informed school.

I am working on my DNP project. I am working with rural high-school educators, and need a workshop or educational service that will help teacher increase their own understanding of trauma, and how to better respond to children's behavior. Funding has been an issue for me as many of the workshops I have found are over 1K.

Thankful for anything I can get.

Starr Commonwealth has some good trainings and I see they are at a significantly reduced price right now: https://starr.org/product/trau...d-resilient-schools/

The Alberta Family Wellness Brain Story Certification may be what you are looking for too: https://www.albertafamilywellness.org/training

Just last week I did a workshop titled Advocating for Trauma-Informed Care: Teachers and Caregivers that you might be interested in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bF-o6m8psk

Joe Brummer's Building a Trauma-Informed Restorative School is a great read: https://www.joebrummer.com/book/

Elena Aguilar's Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators is also well-worth the read in moving towards TIC in schools: https://www.onwardthebook.com/about-onward/

These are the resources that come to mind

Great question. Attending to student trauma as students return to school is so important. Thank you for your good work!

I'd encourage you to look at Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience.

Mind Matters’  lessons teach people aged 12 and up to heal from Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and other negative experiences with innovative methods based on  current research and neuroscience. These skills give individuals a way to take charge of their emotions and improve their states of mind. Participants learn to address their physical, relational, and mental health needs.

It is written for teachers and other non-clinicians to teach directly to their students. It is well within your budget.

If teachers want to learn the Mind Matters content, it is available in on-demand video classes with the developer, Dr. Carolyn Curtis, at Mind Matters Now. The classes are highly subsidized thanks to a grant we received. CEUs can be earned from participating in these classes.

Finally, Mind Matters Minutes makes the self soothing skills of Mind Matters available for free to teachers for use with their students either virtually or in person.

Hi Channing,

We have worked in Resilient Schools efforts in the state of South Carolina for 7 years and have oodles of EVB interventions developed in collaboration with 30 agencies specializing in child welfare / resiliency / ACEs.  The programs range from PD for educators / school professionals and parents, and cover traumatic stress, neuroscience, ACEs, mindfulness based stress reduction and community resilience.  Happy to share the model and research with you and speak more.  Feel free to email me at rfarrell@sharpenminds.com.
