I am interested in being in touch with ACES Connection members that have done or do work in organizations or systems serving people with developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorders, down syndrome, fetal alcohol, intellectual disabilities, etc etc.

I'd like to pick your brain about strategies for advancing trauma-informed care in these organizations.

Thanks, Steve Brown, Director, Traumatic Stress Institute, steveb@klingberg.com

Hi Steve.  You may want to visit our website, https://disabiityandabuse.org to find books, resources, lists of activities, etc. on abuse of people with I/DD.  Feel free to contact me at nora@disability-abuse.com (we say, @ disability MINUS abuse dot com.  We produce a weekly newsfeed on abuse & disability which you can see on our website (prior newsfeeds). We conduct a 2 day training program for therapists on how to effectively deliver therapy to trauma victims with I/DD.

Hi Steve,

I am in Early Childhood education, specifically with children with disabilities. I was a teacher, an evaluator, program specialist, and now I work for an organization that assists and trains all of those people. My passion is social-emotional development and training teachers and caregivers in brain development and trauma informed care is what I love to do. I am also a volunteer for Dr Ross Greene's advocacy group for ending restraint and seclusion. I would love to be a part of your conversation as well.

Thank you,

Roxie Heist
