Hi folks. I'm recruiting for volunteers for my PhD dissertation research study. I am looking for adults in the Bay Area (or people willing to travel to Pleasant Hill for a 1 day training) who have both post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and chronic low-back pain. The "official" announcement follows, but please feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

To sign up for the study, or to get more information, go to: http://www.cygnustransformatio...ential-participants/

Take care! Beverly

****************************

My name is Beverly Swann. I am a doctoral student at Saybrook University, and I am the principal investigator in the following study.

The Institutional Review Board at Saybrook University has approved my research proposal, and I am moving forward with the research study for my PhD in Mind-Body Medicine. I am researching the effects of muscle relaxation techniques on the symptoms of co-occurring post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and non-specific chronic low-back pain (nsCLBP). Non-specific chronic low-back pain refers to low-back pain that has lasted at least six months and is not attributable to a specific illness or injury. More information about the study can be found at http://www.cygnustransformatio...le-relaxation-study/.

The muscle relaxation techniques being compared in the study are Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) and Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). General eligibility for the study includes being an adult with both PTSD and nsCLBP.

If you or someone you know might be interested in participating, more information is located at http://www.cygnustransformatio...ential-participants/.

Recruiting for volunteers is open through the end of July and the study will be conducted in the August/September timeframe.

The proposal for this study was reviewed by Saybrook University Institutional Review Board, at Saybrook University, 475 14th St, Oakland, CA 94612.

If you have any questions about the study or referring potential participants, or if you would like printed color copies of the flyer, please call 925-705-7036, or email bswann@saybrook.edu.
