Hi Lisa,

The On-Site Academy in Gardner, Massachusetts and its Crisis/Respite Program for "First Responders" (Police, Fire, EMT-Paramedics, and Dispatchers) and Human Service Personnel [now, from anywhere in the world] at a serene farmhouse in an adjacent rural town, are "Affiliated" with [trauma-informed] Intentional [Police] Peer Support programs of Boston, Cambridge, and numerous [Massachusetts] North Shore Municipalities' Police Departments. A supervising Psychologist there at On-Site, who previously worked for the Washington State Patrol, and whose name I don't immediately recall, may have [curriculum] 'resource lists'.

Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department recently embarked on a [Trauma-Informed] initiative--a notice of which I believe was posted here on ACEsConnection.com, but I could be mistaken. If their curriculum was adopted by our NH State Police Standards and Training Council, and it should be available under our state Right-To-Know Law, if it's not publicly accessible.

Enhancing Police Responses to Children Exposed to Violence:
A Toolkit for Law Enforcement

Request a copy of the toolkit here!!

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (The IACP) and the Yale Child Study Center (Yale), with support from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, has launched the Enhancing Police Responses to Children Exposed to Violence: A Toolkit for Law Enforcement.

This new toolkit provides practical tools and resources to assist law enforcement agencies in building or enhancing effective operational responses to children exposed to violence (with or without a mental health partner).

The tools within this toolkit are organized into four types: informational, operational protocols, assessment tool and operational tools. Several of these tools were first developed for the Protecting and Serving: Enhancing Law Enforcement Response to Children Exposed to Violence training curriculum for frontline police officers.

For more information or questions, contact Kelly Burke at the IACP, 1-800-THE-IACP X842 or cev@theiacp.org">cev@theiacp.org.

Hello ACEs community!

We are in the process of developing a training curriculum on Trauma & Resilience that is specific for law enforcement officers (for new recruits and continuing ed for current officers) and wondering if anyone has developed something similar that can be shared?

Thanks in advance for any help.  Lisa Wright

Hey Lisa

I'm currently doing intro to trauma as it relates to domestic violence (kids and adults) in my recruit blocks. I'm interested in what you develop and we may be able to work on a block of time for you to cover this. SVU and I share a week with each academy and we are preparing for the next one. Please keep me posted.

Thanks for reaching out to the "Law enforcement community" and other FIRST RESPONDERS....I  getting the  hidden prejudice and hidden biases from a few people who are STEROTYPING LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONEL that the group of people  are "SETTING UP INNOCENT PEOPLE AND THEN ARRESTED THEM"  That I have to say is  a WRONG VIEW that results in a WRONG CONCLUSION from their judgmental mind.    To be  open minded and  test the theory until one gets the facts from a three sides. I say three sides...because I have learned from the best in the country there is 3 sides to every story and then having the capacity to recognize the truth is the beginning of SANITY. My Spiritual guru calls that phenomenon  PRIDE BLINDNESS. THE JUDEGEMENTAL MIND that is driven by pride of self often bling themselves to these liabilities and the sad thing about that is THEY DONT EVEN KNOW IT. Yet again thanks for reaching out to this COURAGEGOUS GROUP of men and women who protect and serve the community which means when human beings are in chaos they often encounter some one in the law enforcement community is to Intercept the  human beings are in in chaos. Children of chaos....these wounded warriors need  your COMPASSION and Non judgement, not your biting judgement and stereotyping... Chances are the haters  have issues with their own  FAMILY OF ORIGIN ISSUES and are UNRESOLVED EMOTIONAL CONFLCTS from their own childhood and adolescent so they DONT SEE THESE HUMAN BEINGS as they are today. They are "Projecting their own hidden shadow" onto the rest of us INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS. They see others through the dark shadows of the own unresolved past.  Usually is they are MAN HATERS  the real problem is the HATE their biological father and yet this "Disorganized attachment patterns" is left unnoticed and keeps them in DENIAL and DELUSION until they get ready to attack their next victim.. The problems is not on the outside like few they think by watching the news .  The problem with us on this group is that our problems are on the inside not outside in the culture...the disease of addiction will condition you to believe the lie EVERY TIME. "The FALSE BELIEF that someone out there is responsible for my unhappiness"  The only enemy we ALL HAVE is the EGO. Nothing else.

Rick Herranz...in hope that I may find real love and real tolerance in this circle of healing here.
